With appropriate inspections and maintenance, it’s not uncommon for them to last 350,000 miles and more. Eventually though, components such as the lift and fuel injection pumps will need replacing, and when that day comes we’re here to help. For example, the 24 valve Cummins injectors we offer will help extend the life of your engine.

We’re also here for when you want to upgrade your 5.9. We carry an extensive range of 24V Cummins performance parts that will help you squeeze more torque and horsepower from the trusty six cylinder.

About the 24V 5.9L Cummins Diesel

Launching with two valves per cylinder, the 5.9 was installed in Ram pickups from 1989. In 1998 it went through a major revision, primarily to keep up with emissions regs, and acquired a 24 valve head, electronic fuel injection and a Holset turbo.

One of the most interesting features of this engine was the absence of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) or other emissions controls. The design was so good they just weren’t needed, and that’s one reason for the high reliability: There’s less to go wrong!

When the 24 valve engine debuted, output with a manual transmission was 235hp and 460lb-ft. That grew to 305hp and 555lb-ft before the engine was phased out in 2007. Fortunately, for those who want more, a range of 5.9 Cummins 24 valve performance upgrades are available from Powerhouse Diesel.

24V Parts Overview

We offer a wide range of engine parts and specialized tools to help you maintain your 5.9 liter. Upgrade your high-horsepower 1998.5-2023 Dodge Ram 5.9L/6.7L Diesel with the XDP X260 Series Head Stud Kit XD3011HS. These XD260 head studs are the ideal upgrade for any high-performance, racing, or sled pulling application.
Upgrading the OEM head bolts is a must when adding horsepower and torque to your diesel-powered Ram 2500/3500. The factory head bolts typically can't handle the additional pressure from high-performance applications which can lead to the cylinder head lifting.
Upgrading to these XDP head studs helps to keep cylinder head locked down and avoid head gasket failures. The threads are rolled after heat-treating to deliver optimum fatigue strength. The XD260 Series head studs feature an upgraded 260,000 plus psi tensile strength to ensure the cylinder head on your engine stays locked in place under even the highest combustion pressures.
In addition to the upgraded strength, replacing the head bolts with studs also allows you to obtain a more precise torque reading. A bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time.
With a head stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force. Studs can also ensure proper alignment of the cylinder heads every time and provide for easier engine assembly.
Unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use, these studs are reusable which makes them a must have for high-performance applications. These studs are manufactured in an ISO/TS 16949 quality control facility.
Kit includes 12-point nuts, washers, and installation instructions. Assembly lubricant sold separately. Features:
Ideal For High-Horsepower Applications
Tensile Strength 260K psi
Includes Washers and 12 Point Nuts
Will Not Stretch Like The Factory Bolts
Threads Have Been Rolled After Heat Treatment
Manufactured In An ISO/TS 16949 Quality Control Factory
Studs Are Reusable, Unlike Torque-To-Yield (TTY) Bolts Which Much Be Replaced After Each Use
Warranty Info: 2 Year / Unlimited Mileage
Tech Tips: XDP Thread Cleaning Chasers (Sold Separately): The XDP Thread Cleaning Chasers XD40125TC is the perfect add-on to any head stud installation. Using Thread Cleaning Chasers ensures that you are able to properly clean the threads in your engine block before the installation of any studs or fasteners. Clean threads will provide you with accurate torque readings which are critical to your head gasket repair, or engine build.
XDP X-TRA Slick Engine and Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately): The use of XD541 is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply XDP X-TRA Slick Lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly. Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.
